One of the fastest-growing cities in America, framed in dramatic desert landscapes and beautiful mountain vistas, Palmdale is known as the "aerospace capital of the world." Not to be missed is Palmdale's premiere attraction, the Palmdale Plant 42 Heritage Airpark, which displays aircraft that were flown, manufactured, or modified at Palmdale's Plant 42 Flight Test Installation on nearby Edwards Air Force Base. For the outdoor enthusiast, Angeles National Forest provides hiking, fishing, camping, hunting, and target shooting as well as water and winter sports. Within five miles of Palmdale is a driving ragne, a 9-hole golf course and a championship 18-hole golf course as well as a private 18-hole course, and several other courses within 30 miles. For a unique visual experience, the Poppy Reserve (just 15 miles) holds its annual California Poppy Festival in early April. The award-winning Palmdale Fall Festival, held during the second weekend in October, features food, arts and crafts, fine arts and a headliner entertainment, and during three weekends each summer, Palmdale offers a Summer Starlight Concert series that attracts over 25,000 people each year. Other points of interest include Magic Mountain Six Flags (45 miles); FunLand Gaming Center (1 mile); Willow Springs Raceway (40 miles); LA County Raceway (8 miles); and, for the shopper, the Antelope Valley Mall (just one mile from the hotel).
